Director of Connecting Ministry (Full-time, Exempt)

Job Summary

Reporting to the Pastor of Discipleship, this position is responsible for providing guidance and oversight of the Connecting Ministry.  The purpose of this ministry is to create a covenant community by developing relationships among congregants through small groups and connect congregants with other FPCO ministries to utilize their spiritual gifts on the mission field, be it in our local community or around the world.     

Qualifications

  • Must have a relationship with Jesus Christ and commitment to a Christian lifestyle.
  • Must have a passion for working with people and advancing the ministry for the glory of God.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite products.
  • Undergraduate degree strongly preferred.
  • Previous ministry experience is highly desirable.

Organist-Assistant Director of Music (Exempt)

Job Summary

Reporting to the Minister of Worship Arts, this position has a dual role. The position is responsible for playing the organ and/or piano for church-related events: services (regular and special), all music rehearsals, and funerals and is also expected to utilize his/her God given talents in supporting the overall vision, mission and values of FPCO in the areas of music and worship.     

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be a committed Christian, whose life demonstrates an ongoing personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Recognizes the theological role of music in worship.
  • Must be passionate about the vision, mission and values of FPCO, honoring God by making disciples of Jesus who light the world.
  • Membership at FPCO is encouraged.

Mercy Drive Initiative Middle School/High School Academic Program Leader (Contract)

Job Summary

Provides academic leadership to the middle school and high school program in the Mercy Drive Community. Oversees and implements strategy for equipping students, parents, and tutors with tools and skills needed for academic achievement and advancement.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Education
  • Teaching experience and knowledge of instructional best practices
  • Familiar with online curriculum and resources used by OCPS
  • Experience facilitating and reviewing student assessments
  • The ability to work with a diverse population within schools, churches and the community
  • Experience in under resourced communities and cross-cultural settings.
  • Good interpersonal communications skills with the ability to relate to a diverse population within schools, churches and the community
  • The ability to create warm relationships with students while maintaining high expectations.
  • Experience managing and developing volunteers
  • Ability to develop curriculum and lesson plans
  • Strong organizational skills, as well as excellent written and oral communication skills

Mercy Drive Initiative Elementary Program Leader (Contract)

Job Summary

Provide leadership to the after-school elementary program at the Northwest Community Center, initially focused on the K-1 students. The Elementary Program Leader will work in partnership with the City of Orlando staff and First Pres’ FOUR12 Middle School and High School leaders to serve the students, parents and families of the Mercy Drive Community. This role will focus on the academic, social, emotional, and spiritual development foundational to the overall growth of the children.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A degree and/or experience in elementary education and early learning
  • Experience in under resourced communities and cross-cultural settings.
  • Teaching experience with young learners
  • Knowledge of diverse instructional approaches
  • Good interpersonal communications skills with the ability to relate to a diverse population within schools, churches and the community
  • Experience managing and developing volunteers
  • A team builder, who has experience working in partnerships.
  • Highly organized problem solver
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office computer programs and openness to explore education technology tools

Part-Time Child Care Staff for Sunday Morning

First Presbyterian Church of Orlando, located in downtown Orlando, is seeking multiple part-time child care workers for Sunday mornings (7:30 am – 12:30 pm) at a pay rate of $12.00 per hour.

The ideal candidate will have an understanding of the developmental stages and needs of infants and preschoolers (birth to 4 years old), a desire to be a team player and help with children in a positive, nurturing, church/faith-based environment.

Duties

  • Responsible for the safety and well-being of the children while providing fun and stimulating activities;
  • Responsible for communication with parents regarding their child;
  • Stay informed of current childcare trends.

Requirements

  • 2 years previous child care experience in a classroom setting preferred
  • AA Degree in Early Childhood or CDA a plus
  • Desire and ability to work with children, birth to 4 years old
  • Demonstrated responsibility and dependability
  • Must be comfortable working in a church environment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • CPR/AED and First Aid Certification
